AC systems use GFCIs that trip at 30mA. DC doesn't have zero-crossing, so AC GFCIs sit there like a dumbass. Your 48V system? A tiny fault (like 20mA) can fry you. No joke.

How DC GFCI Actually Works

Forget AC tricks. DC GFCIs use a current-sensing clamp around BOTH positive and negative wires. If the current out ≠ current back by 30mA (or less), it trips. That's it. No magic.

Detection Methods (No Fluff)

Practical Tip: Install the DC GFCI at your battery bank output (before the inverter). Test it monthly with a proper tester (not a finger). If it doesn't trip at 30mA, replace it. No exceptions.
