Shunt Selection: Get This Wrong and You're Screwed
Shunts measure current flow. Pick the wrong one and your readings are garbage. Simple as that.
Size it right: Shunt must handle your peak load. If you run a 3kW inverter, get a 150A shunt minimum. 100A? You'll blow it on a hot day.

Low battery alert at 20% (not 10% – you need buffer)
High voltage alert (for charging issues)
AC inverter overload alert (if you've got one)

Don't skip SMS alerts: If your phone's dead, you're screwed. Use a $30 GSM module ($45-$60) to get SMS alerts. No internet? Still works.
Practical Tips: What Actually Works in Australia
Wire properly: Use 6mm² cable for shunt connections. 4mm²? You'll get voltage drop. Then your readings are wrong. Fix it now.
Test before you trust: Run a 100W load for 1 hour. Check if your logger shows 0.83A (100W/12V). If not, recalibrate.
